Circulation Executive

JOB PURPOSE:

To ensure the circulation administration, operations and sales analysis functions of i are managed and maintained to exceptional standards, to ultimately ensure the circulation of i is built on solid foundations.

To ensure senior management are furnished with valuable and accurate data/insight, which helps inform the strategic direction of the brand.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Wholesale and Supply Management

• Optimising use of copy, managing supplies to an optimum waste/availability relationship.

• Develop relationships with wholesale account managers, overseeing effective wholesale and allocation management to maximise sales and market share.

• Communicating to wholesale promotions from sales and marketing manager

• Monitoring availability, by house and multiple retail group.

• Inputting supply figures from house, by branch into circulation system.

Operations

• Ensure provision and communication of daily print figures are correct on submission to print site and distribution documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner to internal and external print sites.

• Proactively investigate and solve operational supply chain issues.

• Liaise with internal and external print sites to optimise sales opportunities

• Ensure that the circulation system ‘Matrix’ modules are operating effectively, ensuring data is common to JP Standards

• Ensure the correct input of supplies, data loading and inputting returns/voucher redemption and invoicing is provided in a timely manner to JP accounting centre.

Multiple Copy Sales

• Responsible for key account management for major bulk distributors being the main point of contact for bulk deliveries.

• Liaise with wholesalers to ensure weekly bulk deliveries are up to date, daily input of airline copies into the circulation system, create new contractual accounts and resolve invoicing queries.

Sales and Analysis

• Calculating accurate daily sales estimates, updating and monitoring performance trends.

• Monitoring retail promotions, and providing the sales and marketing manager with any potential uplift.

• Communicate effectively daily sales to key stakeholders regularly liaising with editorial and advertising teams.

• Gathering and producing market intelligence on competitors and communicating sales performance and headlines to key stakeholders.

• Analysing sales performance and producing comprehensive reports, using bespoke and internal circulation systems to provide a holistic view of performance, identifies trends and potential opportunities.

• Ensure all ABC rules are adhered to and provide assistance in the production of monthly ABC audits.

• To adhere to Johnston Press policy and procedure guidelines, in all areas including Health and Safety

ORGANISATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

• Key internal relationships are with the Publishing Director and key personnel in the Editorial and Advertising Teams.

• Key External relationship are with Wholesale Account Managers and supply allocation teams, Print Sites, and Bulk Sales Account Managers and Distributors

EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:

• Previous experience in a newspaper, magazine or Distributor environment, whereby a solid understanding of the industry and supply chain has been established.
