Sainsbury’s magazine editor appointed restaurant critic for Director magazine

In the latest issue of Director, out now, Helena’s column reviews restaurants with wonderful wine lists, popular eateries for business dinners and the most stylish watering holes for busy directors to take key clients.

Helena Lang by Jan BaldwinLang (pictured, by Jan Baldwin) said of her appointment: “In my job as editor of Sainsbury’s magazine, I make a point of being amongst the first in at the latest restaurants – it is a great way to stay abreast of the newest food trends and to be able to pass that insight onto our readers. I’m delighted to be able to share this insider knowledge with the readers of Director magazine”.

Director's readers are members of the prestigious UK-based business organisation, the Institute of Directors. Reaching individual company directors across a range of industries and company sizes, Director reflects the real issues and interests of this influential group, while maintaining editorial independence from the IoD. The magazine is circulated to the IoD’s 50,694 members, and readers are entrepreneurial, influential and dynamic, with 42 per cent at CEO/MD or chairperson level.

Lysanne Currie, group editor at Director magazine said “We’re very excited to have the editor of Britain’s favourite food magazine contributing a restaurant column to Director. Our readers are going to get fantastic insights into the best restaurants and bars in the country thanks to Helena. Director magazine is read by the business leaders who keep the country running – so it’s important they get top-notch information on top-quality dining venues.”

With a wealth of food and lifestyle editorial experience, Helena joined Sainsbury’s magazine in October 2009, introducing a more contemporary look to the popular magazine. Since her appointment, the magazine has evolved to become more female friendly, with editorial now including fashion, homes, travel and health as well as award-winning food content.

Reaching the enviable position as the UK’s widest-read, fully paid-for monthly in Britain, Sainsbury’s magazine now has more readers (3,296,000 - NRS readership Jan-Dec 2011) than any other monthly glossy paid-for magazine, say the publishers.

Lang joined the Sainsbury’s magazine team at Seven from Source magazine where she had been editor since July 2006. She also edited Hachette Filipacchi's Psychologies magazine up to its successful launch in the UK following its introduction in Paris.
