Susanna (pictured), recently crowned the most popular presenter of BBC Breakfast in its history, will present the awards at a glittering ceremony at the Lancaster London Hotel on Thursday March 7.
There were more than 550 entries for the 29 categories in the awards that celebrate the achievements of national newspapers last year, topped off by the coveted Newspaper of the Year title.
The Press Awards help to fund the Society of Editors’ campaigning for press freedom and the Journalists’ Charity.
Susanna started her career at BBC Radio Bristol and then become a reporter for Radio 5 Live. She has presented the BBC’s online interactive service, has been a reporter for Breakfast News and was a presenter on the BBC News Channel.
She has presented the channel’s popular BBC Breakfast programme since 2012 when she replaced Sian Williams and anchored the BBC’s Oscars coverage in 2009 and 2010.
Chairman of the judges Bob Satchwell, executive director of the Society of Editors said: “We are delighted to have an award winner presenting the prizes and look forward to Susanna taking the helm in recognising the important journalism of 2012.”
Sponsors for the awards include Camelot which has supported the Society of Editors since 2001, Unison, Precise, Nikon, BT, Gorkana, Google, Reuters and the Press Association. The awards are supported by the NPA, in association with the Journalists’ Charity and British Journalism Review.
