Prostate Cancer UK to Reach football audiences on Boxing Day

Former England goalkeeper Ray Clemence

Prostate cancer kills one man every 45 minutes in the UK and the campaign is designed to target football fans and males aged 45+ who are more at risk of the disease.

An exclusive interview with legendary former England goalkeeper Ray Clemence, a man who has fought against prostate cancer for more than a decade, will feature in the Daily Mirror as well as in the Premier League booklet, entitled the 2nd half.

Other famous football faces from the Premier League such as Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez, Brighton & Hove Albion manager Chris Hughton and AFC Bournemouth supremo Eddie Howe will also support the campaign, helping to shine a light on the most common cancer in men.

Andy Atkinson, Chief Revenue Officer at Reach Solutions, said: “Our diverse portfolio of brands offer clients the opportunity to target any audience across the UK, so it’s fantastic we’re able to partner with Prostate Cancer UK to deliver such an important message to football fans and men over 45.”

“Readers will see a special wrap in the Mirror on the 26th, content and advertisements throughout the Express and Daily Star, while we’ve worked with Prostate Cancer UK to produce a special booklet for fans at nine Premier League games on the day.”

Olivia Burns, Associate Director of Communications at Prostate Cancer UK said: “Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men, so it’s vital we continue to spread the message about the dangers of this disease to men and their families. Teaming up with Reach offers us the perfect platform to do this.

“This timely partnership on a key date in the calendar offers us an incredible opportunity to showcase a huge range of events that readers can get involved in to make a life-saving difference.

“We remain committed to funding ground-breaking research, providing dedicated support and information to men and their families and making prostate cancer a disease the next generation of men need not fear.”
