Celebrating 45 years of helping publishers realise the art of the possible and continuing to innovate for the future.

PCS is at the forefront of product innovation within the publishing industry and this year we are celebrating our 45th birthday!

In 1973, PCS developed one of the UK’s first fully computerised publishing systems – Press 11 – a forerunner of the digital systems used by publishers all over the world today. This was an exciting year within the industry as it also saw the introduction of the internet, voicemail and the mobile phone which marked a dramatic change in communication methods.

Since then, PCS has taken advantage of new technologies to help envision more efficient content first publishing workfiows and better methods of delivery; driving the move to ‘always-on’, independent remote working in the cloud and responding to the increasing desire of technology consumers to purchase software as a service.

Our UK based, in-house developed portfolio of solutions facilitates collaboration across editorial, advertising and circulation workflows for newspaper and magazine publishers.

Phil Walker: "To support MNA in their quest for a more efficient and cost effective IT infrastructure has been very rewarding, and this accolade tops it off."

The winners were announced at VMWorld Europe in Barcelona on Wednesday 19 October, hosted by Computer Weekly and

PCS nominated MNA for the award after undertaking a major IT infrastructure migration project for its sister company. When MNA looked to upgrade its IT infrastructure like for like, it proved cost prohibitive. The publisher therefore looked to what its software provider PCS could offer. PCS and MNA then took a partnership approach to invest in a Dell end-to-end solution with duplicate hardware at two sites in order to host the MNA infrastructure virtually, the company says.

Graeme Clifford, MNA Print Managing Director comments, "It is great to receive double recognition for what has been an exciting project that has totally changed the way we approach our IT operation, especially our overall speed and resilience. The level of savings on cooling, electricity and staffing alone are impressive and we expect the project to have paid for itself within five years."

Phil Walker, MD at PCS says, "PCS have been successfully implementing virtual server solutions for over a decade. To be able to utilise our skills and experience to support MNA in their quest for a more efficient and cost effective IT infrastructure has been very rewarding, and this accolade tops it off."
