Q: By giving access to your data and desktop apps to AI tools like Claude, what are publishers now able to do?

A: It’s not just Claude – it’s the whole ecosystem around it. What’s really changed is that publishing becomes conversational. You’re no longer jumping between tools; you’re saying, “This is the kind of story I want to produce,” and your agent helps with the research, structure, drafting, and even imagery.

If your systems are connected, it can go further – preparing a publish-ready article and even lining up social distribution. But you absolutely need a human-in-the-loop, zero-trust mindset. Review everything. Check sources. Stay ethical.

The big shift is speed and iteration. You’re no longer working linearly – you’re refining quickly, back and forth, and getting to a stronger result much faster.

Q: Why should publishers make their publishing platforms accessible to AI?

A: At the simplest level, AI helps with the heavy lifting – research, drafting, structuring, shaping content to your voice.

But it goes beyond that. It keeps things moving. Content can be refreshed out of hours, stories can evolve as new information comes in, and you can react much faster to what’s happening.

Once you connect audience data, it becomes even more powerful. You can see what’s resonating, suggest new stories, link content intelligently, and continuously refine what you’re putting out.

There’s a huge upside here – it’s really about unlocking that.

Q: What is the current state of play with ‘conversational publishing’?

A: It’s already happening. You can see the early versions of it even in platforms like WordPress, and over the next six months, it’s going to accelerate quickly.

If your platform can’t integrate with things like MCP services or similar frameworks soon, I’d be pushing hard on that. These tools are building on each other, and the more connected your data and workflows are, the better the outcome – for both you and your audience.

It’s moving fast, and it’s not going away.

Q: How should publishers be using AI to enrich their audience data?

A: You can do a lot with very little. An email or company name, combined with public sources like LinkedIn or company data, can give you a much richer picture of your audience.

The real power comes when that data is tightly connected to your publishing platform. Then you can personalise content in real time – based on interests, behaviour, location – so every experience feels more relevant.

That shift towards first- and zero-party data is becoming increasingly important, especially as third-party options get restricted.

Q: How can AI be used to ensure that content remains contemporary?

A: At its simplest, AI can constantly scan what’s happening – trends, competitors, your own performance – and surface what matters.

It can highlight emerging topics, flag when stories need updating, and suggest new angles based on what’s gaining traction. It can also recommend specific improvements – headlines, structure, related content – to extend reach.

Instead of publishing and moving on, you’re continuously evolving your content.

Q: What’s in the pipeline from Affino?

A: We’re going all-in on this. The next release brings a deep Zapier integration, so content, users, sales, events – all of it – can connect into thousands of other platforms.

We’re also launching our first generation of MCP tools, which we’ve been trialling internally. These let teams securely interact with content, audience data, and community features through AI-driven workflows.
