The monthly magazine is on art collecting, the international art market, and museum exhibitions - widely considered to be one of the world’s most renowned and respected art publications, says Exact Editions.
The comprehensive, fully-searchable digital resource features all 1200+ issues of the magazine. Readers can see the development of the publication, from its founding by art dealer Joseph Duveen and Finnish art historian Tancred Borenius, to Denys Sutton’s legendary 25-year stint as editor, to the present-day art market reporting.
Highlights within the archive include; letters about the emerging surrealism movement from 1926 Paris, the discovery of a Leonardo Da Vinci statuette first reported by Apollo in 1934, John Berger’s essay on Renato Guttuso in 1955, as well as Brian Sewell’s criticism of the Royal Academy Schools in the late 1980s.
Now owned by Old Queen Street Media, Apollo’s complete archive is available to Apollo’s Premium Subscribers (either Print & Digital or Digital only) for individual users and via Exact Editions for institutions.
