Emma Sullivan: “I am delighted to be joining Resolution Media and working with Clive, Phil and all the team in this exciting new chapter as we grow the impact and reach of our distinctive journalism and storytelling.”

Resolution Media has announced the appointment of Emma Sullivan as chief executive officer, effective January 2027.

Resolution Media is part of the Resolution group, which publishes Prospect Magazine. Resolution Media also invests in media businesses including The Observer as well as film financing.

Emma joins from The Observer where she is currently chief executive officer. She has held senior roles at Tortoise Media since its formation, prior to which she led public engagement at the US Embassy in London and was head of the events strategy of Chatham House, a geopolitical think tank.

As CEO, Resolution Media says Emma will lead its growth strategy, with a particular focus on the expansion of Prospect Magazine. She will oversee plans to widen Prospect's readership in the UK and pursue international growth through distribution agreements, joint ventures and acquisitions. Resolution Studios will also develop its production and finance capabilities to support purpose-led storytelling via film, exhibitions and events.

Prospect is a UK monthly current affairs magazine, combining robust debate and considered reflection on the biggest issues of our time, says the publisher. For three decades, it has provided independent analysis across politics, economics, public policy and culture. Its next phase will see increased investment in digital, audience growth and engagement, alongside a new events and salon strategy.

Sir Clive Cowdery, founder of Resolution & chairman, Resolution Media said: “Emma’s key role in the acquisition and restructuring of The Observer, together with her many years of experience in the subscriptions and events business, makes her appointment as CEO a significant opportunity for Resolution Media as we embark on this next phase of growth.”

Emma Sullivan, CEO designate commented: “I am delighted to be joining Resolution Media and working with Clive, Phil and all the team in this exciting new chapter as we grow the impact and reach of our distinctive journalism and storytelling. As the media industry continues to evolve, we have a unique opportunity to develop new ideas and formats to ensure the purpose and values of Prospect and Resolution reaches new audiences. I can’t wait to get started.”

Phil Collins, editor, Prospect Magazine said: “I am pleased to welcome Emma to Resolution Media. This is a huge step forward as we seek to extend our audience and make Prospect an indispensable voice for all those who care about the future of liberal thought and all those who love great writing.”
