HuffPost UK says the podcast, which aims to make politics easy, delivers the headlines of the week in a way that even the most politically dense can understand.
Commons People is back with a bang at one of the most fractious junctures in recent British political history, added the publisher, as Starmer’s premiership is shaken by scandal once more and the crucial test of the local elections looms. This week’s episode will consider the all-important question dominating column inches - whether the elections will spell the end for Keir Starmer.
Every week, Kevin Schofield, Kate Nicholson and expert guests delve into the biggest stories from Westminster with the authority and insider insight of two highly experienced journalists, the publisher continued. Kevin has spent nearly 20 years covering Westminster for the Daily Record, The Sun, PoliticsHome and HuffPost UK.
Kate has spent more than two years in Parliament. She specialises in UK politics, the Ukraine war and international relations, and regularly analyses the big stories of the day with appearances on the radio.
You can listen to Commons People on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and other major podcast players.
Kevin Schofield, co-host of Commons People, says: “There are a lot of podcasts out there for political obsessives, but we want to explain all the big stories in a fun, easily-digestable way that helps keep our listeners informed, but never bored.”
Kate Nicholson, co-host of Commons People, adds: “Politics can feel complicated and inaccessible, but it shouldn’t be. We aim to break down the complex world of Westminster (and beyond) so everyone can understand it, keeping listeners entertained rather than overwhelmed.”
Cate Sevilla, editor-in-chief, HuffPost UK, says: “Kevin and Kate are both absolutely brilliant at what they do. HuffPost UK is really proud to now showcase their unique ability to explain, analyse and dissect what's going on in the political world – all with a sense of humour and level-headed perspective – to a new format and a new audience.”
