New Scientist partners with Exact Editions
Daryl Rayner: “New Scientist is a pioneering magazine with a long history of delivering innovative content and we’re delighted to partner with them to expand the title’s global audience.”

New Scientist, one of the world’s most popular weekly science and technology publications, is now digitally available to libraries via the Exact Editions platform. This new partnership offers the opportunity for institutions to subscribe for unlimited access to an extensive archive of over 120 issues dating back to August 2021, added Exact Editions, as well as new issues as they are released. Readers can browse and search the magazine’s content across web, iOS and Android devices.

Founded in 1957 for “all those interested in scientific discovery and its social consequences”, New Scientist covers international news and developments from a scientific standpoint, asking the big-picture questions about life, the universe and what it means to be human. The magazine provides features and reports from writers who are experts in their field, with content written in concise and clear language that puts discoveries and advances in the context of everyday life today and in the future.

Exact Editions says intuitive navigation is key when presenting New Scientist’s content for the platform to ensure online readers enjoy a seamless experience when browsing the magazine. The platform says it provides:

  • Issues organised by year for easy access to archives.
  • Interactive content pages to locate specific articles.
  • Keyword search functionality across all issues.
  • Unlimited IP-authenticated access and remote access for institutional subscribers.

New Scientist Editor, Catherine de Lange commented: “The magazine’s innovative content and unique design has been replicated perfectly for an online audience in this new digital edition. Science and technology students around the world will enjoy this new engaging way of experiencing New Scientist and we’re excited for our important work to reach new audiences at universities internationally.”

Managing Director of Exact Editions, Daryl Rayner, remarked: “New Scientist is a pioneering magazine with a long history of delivering innovative content and we’re delighted to partner with them to expand the title’s global audience. The addition of this magazine to the Exact Editions platform has enhanced the collection of available science and technology titles, which is now more extensive than ever.”
