Reach celebrates milestone of 50,000 paid subscribers.

Reach celebrates subscriber milestone
Piers North: “Reaching 50,000 paid digital subscribers is a testament to the hard work of our teams and the wide appeal and value of our content, and this is in addition to a base of over 65,000 print, e-edition and paid newsletter subscribers.”

Reach has announced that it has surpassed the 50,000 mark for paid digital subscribers, towards a target of 75,000 by year-end. The announcement comes just shy of nine months since its first offering launched, with the Manchester Evening News offering going live in late November 2025.

Since then, the business says it has launched paid subscription offerings for 19 brands across the Reach portfolio. This includes national titles with the Mirror, Express, Daily Star and Daily Record, as well as local titles, for example, HullLive, which launched on July 21 and has already passed the 1,000 subscribers threshold.

In the coming weeks, further titles will roll out a paid subscription offering, including GlasgowLive, EdinburghLive and NorthWalesLive, says the publisher.

The digital subscription offering differs across titles, the publisher continued, but broadly includes exclusive content, a cleaner ad-lite experience, and various partner offers and discounts.

Most titles have launched at £4.99 monthly, with some slightly higher, for example Express Premium at £6.99, and others slightly lower, for example Mirror+ at £3.99.

Chief Executive Piers North said: “Reaching 50,000 paid digital subscribers is a testament to the hard work of our teams and the wide appeal and value of our content, and this is in addition to a base of over 65,000 print, e-edition and paid newsletter subscribers.

“This marks a key milestone on our road to building reliable and recurring revenue streams, with a target of 75,000 by the end of year and more into 2027. We’ll be keeping up the pace as we deepen the relationship with our audiences, finesse the offering and learn more about our communities along the way.”

At Reach’s half year results presentation for 2026, shared last month, Piers also announced that Reach would be experimenting with new paid community brands, giving previously print-only legacy brands an online home for the first time, starting with the Southport Visiter, Ayrshire Post and The Journal in Newcastle.
