Walstead's digital businesses have continued to expand, boosted by major new pre-media and digital wins for Rhapsody UK, the launch of a new Rhapsody satellite operation in Spain, and the establishment of an Austrian media services company, Amano Media. These companies are a growing part of the group and are the core element in Walstead’s strategy to supply integrated, cross-platform media solutions to brands, retailers and publishers, says the company.
Andy Berg started his career in pre-press in 1990, rising to become Client Services Director and then Group Managing Director of the Fresh Media Group (FMG) in 2005, doubling turnover to £12m during his tenure. He subsequently jointly managed the sale of FMG to a private equity fund, when the company was rebranded as BORN Group. Andy stayed on following the sale and, says Walstead, further helped grow the business to over £15M as Managing Director of the Content division.
Commenting on Andy Berg’s appointment, Paul Utting, Chief Executive, Walstead Group, said: “Andy is an industry heavyweight who has been at the forefront of the migration to digital and it is a great coup to have someone with his leadership and experience on our senior management team. He is perfectly placed to drive the growth of our content and new media services as these become ever more important to our customers.”
Andy Berg said: “I have long been an admirer of Paul Utting and Mark Scanlon and what they have achieved over the years, and having seen the Walstead Group go from strength to strength I am now delighted to be joining their team. The future prospects are extremely exciting and I am confident that in the medium term Walstead will be seen as one of the industry’s leading content delivery solutions providers throughout Europe.”
Andy Berg will join the Walstead Group in January 2018.
