Sam Cox, world-renowned artist, also known as Mr Doodle, teams up with Happiful magazine for issue 110, announces the publisher. The print magazine, devoted to mental health, has original artwork by Mr Doodle and his distinctive doodling style, featured on the front cover of the latest issue.
This special edition of Happiful magazine also features an interview with Sam by Acting Editor, Kathryn Wheeler. Sam chats about his artwork and the path that led him to start and finish his famous ‘Doodle House’. Sam describes living in the ‘Doodle House’, a house he painted white and covered all surfaces with doodles, as “normal family life” but admits it's a “regular source of conversation”.
Sam also talks to Happiful about the support he received when he shared his experience of psychosis with his social media followers: “I was really pleased that the post was able to make people feel less alone, and also make it OK to talk about it, because I think it’s interesting how brains work, and how fragile they can be.”
Sam explains how his son has been a huge inspiration to his artwork, telling Happiful, “I love how he draws not to impress someone or to make someone else pleased but just for the act of feeling that pen on the paper or seeing something in front of him.”
Acting Editor, Kathryn Wheeler, comments: “For the first time in Happiful’s history, we’ve invited a world-renowned artist to create original cover artwork. Bringing this collaboration to life has been a genuine cross-department effort, and we’re incredibly proud of what Sam has created. His honesty about mental health will resonate deeply with our readers.”
Happiful magazine featuring Mr Doodle was published 1st May.
