Launch: TV Years: The Eighties

The team behind Bauer Media’s TV Choice magazine are to launch a new magazine dedicated to the Eighties, containing, says Bauer, “a treasure trove of telly memories no TV fan will want to miss”.

Launch: TV Years: The Eighties

TV Years: The Eighties will include the 50 Greatest TV Moments, revisiting old favourites like Bergerac, Howard’s Way and Grange Hill. Plus, the inside story of Only Fools and Horses and actor Mark Gatiss remembers the terror of nuclear war thriller, Threads. Sarah Greene shares her Eighties memories and the magazine looks back at the launch of Channel 4 and the disastrous debut for TV-Am. Plus Michael Grade recalls how he saved BBC1.

Elsewhere in the magazine, continues Bauer, there is a definitive year-by-year and month-by-month of every important TV moment the Eighties had to offer.

Editor-in-Chief, Jon Peake commented: "With nostalgia for the Eighties lasting longer than the actual decade itself, we thought the time was right for a magazine to take a trip back to the time when telly ruled – despite only having four channels to choose from. We chart television’s journey throughout a decade that gave us classics we still remember fondly, the things we’d forgotten all about and even maybe things we never knew existed – even the ads. We hope you enjoy reading it as much as we enjoyed making it.”

TV Years: The Eighties marks the first of a series of specials from the TV Choice team, with the next planned for publication in November.

TV Years: The Eighties is on sale on Tuesday 11 September, priced at £3.99.
