Luca Da Re: “We know that the digitisation of Opera Now will yield new revenue and bring the magazine to new eyes.”

Published since 1989, and now available monthly, Opera Now is a leading source of in-depth opera news, international reviews and wide-ranging features.

It is hoped that the digital archive will attract and engage new subscribers, particularly those who prefer to read online and on handheld devices.

In an era of immediacy and availability, the provision of instant access to the complete archive is paramount to the future success of any magazine, says Exact Editions.

The development of a dedicated iOS app designed by Exact Editions will also help to ensure that they will be ready to embrace the growing market of phone consumers.

The Mark Allen Group has worked with Exact Editions for a number of years on Gramophone, Jazzwise and a range of other titles.

They have had success in selling high-value site-wide subscriptions to academic and specialist libraries worldwide. Now an established provider to the institutional market, Exact Editions aims to build a lucrative and annually recurring revenue stream for the publisher.

The long-term strategy is to establish Opera Now as an essential resource in music libraries, conservatoires and schools.

The complete archive of Opera Now is available in the Exact Editions individual and institutional shops.

Luca Da Re, Head of Marketing and Digital Strategy at Mark Allen Group, said: “We’ve worked with Exact Editions for a long time and know that the digitisation of Opera Now will yield new revenue and bring the magazine to new eyes. We hope that academics and enthusiasts will be able to find new use for the brilliant archive, bringing old articles back into conversation and spreading enthusiasm about opera as an art form.”

Managing Director of Exact Editions, Daryl Rayner, said: “We’re very pleased to have Opera Now on the platform - it’s a great magazine with a rich history and potential for growth. We have a lot of success with music titles amongst institutions and will be adding it to our robust music collection.”
