Sunday Times chooses Celloglas for special Dish cover

The Dish is a food magazine that features in the Sunday Times every month. The December 6th issue was sponsored by M & S and received a special glitter varnish finish on the front and back cover.

This is the first time the Sunday Times has used Celloglas. The glitter varnish was added at Celloglas and was screen-applied. The 4pp cover wrap of The Dish was produced on 150gsm Gloss. This Coverwrap was wrapped around a 52 page issue.

The full magazine was printed and finished through three suppliers over a 10-day cycle, with a print run of 870,000.

Laura McClennon, Magazine Publishing Manager at News UK commented: “I’ve used Celloglas for decorative finishing before with great results and they are well established in the magazine publishing industry. Using a decorative finish on a special issue like this really adds to the experience for the reader and helps communicate the special nature of a sponsored Christmas issue. M&S chose the gold glitter varnish because it fitted well with their ‘Adventures in Christmas’ campaign”.

This special Christmas issue of The Dish featured recipes from famous chefs, such as Jamie Oliver, Raymond Blanc and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, plus an interview with Will Young, and lots of gift ideas and festive drink reviews.

Steve Middleton, Sales Director, at Celloglas commented, “Glitter varnish is one of many decorative finishes we offer to make magazine covers special. We offer a wide range of fast turnaround solutions to suit a range of budgets.”
