Tabletop Gaming magazine relaunches next month
Christopher John Eggett: “The focus on the new features is designed to give readers and gamers not only a way into gaming themselves, but a way to offer others a path to getting to the gaming table.”

Tabletop Gaming is a monthly magazine, website and YouTube channel which also offers online webinars and in-person events, says the publisher. Since 2015 the magazine features in-depth coverage of board games, roleplaying games, miniatures and card games alongside unbiased and honest reviews about games.

The next issue of Tabletop Gaming, Issue 77, will introduce new features to make the magazine easier to navigate for new players, and offer new hooks into the hobby.

“We wanted to get new gamers to the table and give everyone a way into the hobby, whether they’re coming from the point of view of nostalgia, totally fresh, or someone who has just dabbled in the hobby before,” says Claire Ingram, publisher of the magazine.

The publisher, Warners Group Publications plc, says the new features include:

  • The Gateway – An introductory feature for new players. Learn the basics of a classic gateway game, why everyone loves it, and even get a few tips on how to win. Ideal for handing to someone who has never played a hobby game before – and getting them hooked.
  • Connect 4 – A supercharged recommendation feature. We take a big name game, hobby gem, or cult classic and give you four next games to try out based on one of the main game’s key features. Your roadmap to your next favourite game.
  • Out of the Box – A dedicated look at all of that stuff that doesn’t come with rules. A look at gaming accessories, puzzles, building activities and other weird and wonderful stuff that might catch your eye before you dive into the reviews.
  • What’s In Your Attic – Take a look at the incredible gaming discoveries players have found in their attic, and work out whether they’re selling or keeping for the nostalgia. A great way for the community to reflect on the good, bad and sometimes ugly of classic games of their childhood.

These features join regular slots such as Have You Played? (a look at games you might have missed out on first time round), The Soloist (a dedicated column to solo gaming of all stripes) and Encapsulate (a trip through each year of gaming right up to the present day).

“The focus on the new features is designed to give readers and gamers not only a way into gaming themselves, but a way to offer others a path to getting to the gaming table,” says Christopher John Eggett, outgoing editor of Tabletop Gaming, “we’ve long been known for our honesty when it comes to reviews – but with the boom in the gaming market, there’s more people than ever looking for a guide into the hobby. We’re planning to be that guide.”

The relaunch issue of Tabletop Gaming magazine will be available in stores from 24th March 2023, online and digitally from the same date at:
