Wired announces new deputy editor in London
Brian Barrett: “I'm thrilled to share that Rosie Swash (pictured) will be joining Wired as our deputy editor in London.”

The appointment was announced to staff this week by Wired Executive Editor Brian Barrett as follows:

Hi all,

I'm thrilled to share that Rosie Swash will be joining WIRED as our Deputy Editor in London.

Rosie began her career at the Observer before joining the Guardian, where she held various reporting and editing roles over 17 years. As senior news editor, Rosie led coverage across the technology, environment, science, and health desks. She went on to report on Afghanistan, Iran, and Ukraine for the Guardian's award-winning Rights and Freedoms series, and led The Mystery of Bangladesh’s Missing Children, an investigation that was awarded a 2024 Amnesty Media Prize for its “excellence in human rights reporting.”

More recently, Rosie has been an editor at Mill Media, an award-winning subscription news platform focused on high-quality local coverage.

The Deputy Editor role is a new one for us, and Rosie is uniquely qualified to fill it. She'll work closely with our staff there, including a general assignment staff writer (another new role, more on that soon), to make sure we're both on top of breaking news in the UK time zone and elevating and investing in our editorial presence in the region more broadly.

Rosie starts on May 5 and will report to me. I'll be in the London office that week to help welcome her; looking forward to seeing many of you there!

Brian
