Bauer Media Group has established a new London campus across two buildings in the Lazari portfolio. The media group has announced it has extended its presence from 47,624 sq ft (NIA) to 63,160 sq ft, with new lettings at The Lantern in Euston and nearby Maple House on Tottenham Court Road.
Lazari and Bauer Media worked in partnership to create a single London campus for the media house, bringing its Audio, Outdoor and Publishing operations into the same location, in the heart of central London. The campus will be the home of UK brands, such as Greatest Hits Radio, Grazia, Heat, Closer, Take A Break, Magic Radio, Absolute Radio, TV Choice, and KISS, as well as a showcase for creative out-of-home advertising.
The creation of the London campus adds 5,044 sq ft to Bauer Media’s current London headquarters at The Lantern, Euston, NW1, with new client-facing space on the lower ground and basement floors opening out into the base of the atrium, resulting in 52,668 sq ft (NIA) in total plus 5,659 sq ft of outdoor space, and 10,492 sq ft on the second floor at Maple House, 149 Tottenham Court Road.
Adrian Crooks, head of leasing at Lazari, said: “Since Bauer Media chose The Lantern as its new headquarters, we’ve worked in partnership, over the last four years to fulfil Bauer’s needs, culminating in the delivery of a new London campus. We have invested in the infrastructure and the technical requirements to support the media house in its future growth, by bringing the businesses together in our portfolio, in the heart of central London.”
The media group says it reaches over 200 million people through its publishing and audio brands and out-of-home advertising business, having completed the acquisition of Bauer Media Outdoor last year. This was a strategic move bring Out of Home advertising and new digital capabilities to the group, the publisher continued.
Vivian Mohr, chief operating officer, Bauer Media Group, said: “We’re passionate about having facilities that enhance creativity, boost collaboration and nurture talent, and so when it came to seeking additional space to grow here in London, Lazari were the natural first call. They supported us through the intensely technical logistics of our move into The Lantern in 2022 – from the power and broadcast infrastructure to the specialist sound requirements – and are now connecting Maple House into the same IT framework so both buildings function seamlessly as one campus.”
Bauer Media Group says it originally selected Lazari’s The Lantern as its London headquarters in 2022, signing a 47,624 sq ft prelet, bringing the audio and publishing businesses into one location. The organisation then transitioned to the new building in phases, taking full occupancy in 2023, with the HQ fitted out for broadcast operations, including production suites, photo studio and a live performance space.
Lazari worked closely with Bauer Media Group on its initial move to The Lantern, including the installation of a new substation to meet the power requirements of the media house, along with specialist sound isolation and broadband speed needs. The Lantern’s distinctive architecture has become a familiar backdrop in the visuals of Bauer’s broadcasting brands.
The turnkey fit-outs for its new space will be implemented by Bluum at The Lantern and Team Projects at Maple House. Lazari has delivered some of the largest turnkey lettings in the London market, including new UK headquarters for Diageo (100,000 sq ft), CBRE (150,000 sq ft) and Forsters (50,000 sq ft).
The Lantern is a 181,764 sq ft premium office space, with 17 apartments and street-level retail and cafes. In partnership with architects Marks Barfield, Lazari transformed the building into an award-winning BREEAM Excellent development.
The development integrates green spaces with stepped terraces, pocket gardens and ‘forest floor’ planting to create a harmonious connection to nature. In addition to Bauer Media Group, The Lantern is also home to global tenants Fujitsu, Siemens, Microsoft (Zenimax), Tripledot Studios and Bupa.
Maple House is a 178,300 sq ft mixed-use development originally designed by Sir Richard Seifert in 1976. Gibson Thornley Architects and MoreySmith have refurbished the building with hospitality-led interiors.
The one-acre Urban Forest at first floor level, designed by Studio ONB and delivered by the Landscape Partnership, has 92 mature trees reaching up to 8 metres in height. The landscaping supports biodiversity including solitary bees and house sparrows.
The Canopy, a 4,000 sq ft rooftop lounge with bar, flexible meeting rooms and outdoor terrace, completes in December 2026 with capacity for up to 240 people.
