IOP Publishing releases Highlights Report

IOP Publishing has released its 2024 Highlights Report, showing a year of significant transformation and growth all while maintaining high standards in peer review and research integrity.

According to IOP Publishing (IOPP) key achievements include:

  • 36,011 journal articles published, compared with 28,977 in 2023
  • 47% of journal articles published in 2024 were open access
  • 87 million content downloads from IOPP’s platform, IOPscience, in 2024
  • 15,000 reviewers to date have IOPP Trusted Reviewer status
  • 15% of the articles accepted by IOPP’s open access journals were from authors in lower-income economies, supported by its APC discount and waiver program
  • 100% of IOPP funds are invested back into science

The report highlights how the company is navigating the rapid changes in the scholarly communications industry, added IOPP.

We are also exploring ways to integrate and respond to artificial intelligence, one of the most transformative technologies of our time”, says Antonia Seymour, CEO of IOP Publishing.

IOPP says the report also highlights its peer review initiatives like co-review, double-anonymous peer review, and the Peer Review Excellence training and certification programme.
