New Talent Awards 2015 – winners announced

The PPA has announced the winners of the New Talent Awards 2015, a celebration of the rising stars in UK magazine media.

A total of 17 awards were handed out at a ceremony held at The Brewery in the City of London on March 10, hosted by Lisa Smosarski, Editor-in-Chief of Shortlist Media’s Stylist magazine.

Haymarket Media Group took home the coveted Best Media Owner for New Talent award, with Andrew Murray from the company's FourFourTwo brand also picking up the New Consumer Journalist of the Year award.

The rising talent at Time Inc. (UK) triumphed in three categories: Viet Tran for Best Graduate or Intern of the Year; Tessa Webb for Rising Sales Star; and Corinne Redfern for New Section Editor of the Year.

Other winners on the night were Apptitude Media, Bauer Media, Dennis Publishing, Hearst Magazines UK, Immediate Media Co., Inside Housing, and Wanderlust.

In the student categories, Jack Kenyon of Falmouth University was named Most Promising Student of the Year (Undergraduate) while Hannah Rose Ewens of City University London was named Most Promising Student of the Year (Postgraduate).

Barry McIlheney, CEO of the PPA, said: “Congratulations to all of the winners of the PPA New Talent Awards 2015. This event, more than any other, is a reminder of the creative energy and world-class skills that are driving UK magazine media forward in 2015.

"It is incredibly rewarding for the PPA to be able to shine a light on the achievements of these companies, brands and individuals, and to celebrate the next generation of rising talent in our sector.”

Loraine Davies, PPA Director of Careers, said: “The impressive line-up of New Talent Awards winners reflects the skills, hard work, creativity and passion of our industry’s emerging stars while also recognising those media owners who are committed to investing in new talent and giving them every opportunity to contribute to the business and shine while they do it.”
