V&A Magazine chooses Exact Editions
Daryl Rayner: “Exact Editions are delighted to have launched this new digital archive for the V&A."

The complete archive of V&A Magazine is now digitally available to all V&A members for the first time, says Exact Editions. Archived since Spring 2003, the collection comprises over 70 issues and explores some of the most significant developments to occur within the museum over the past 20 years. Digital access is included in a V&A membership, and is also available through individual and institutional subscriptions via Exact Editions.

The V&A is a family of museums based in London and across the UK, whose collections encompass 2.8 million objects spanning 5,000 years of history, and where a range of exhibitions and events take place. The V&A Magazine is a unique and eye-opening editorial window into the internal mechanisms of the museum and its events, guiding the reader behind the scenes of exhibitions, delving into the contexts and histories behind specific objects, and conveying the voices of esteemed curators, conservators, and cultural commentators.

Highlights from the archive include: a discussion on the acquisition of the Ardabil Carpet, an iconic 16th-century Persian creation considered to be the world’s oldest dated carpet (Summer 2006); an interview with Alessandro Michele, during his time as the creative director of Gucci, on challenging conventional constructions of masculinity through clothing (Winter 2022); a detailed reflection on the iconic Elsa Schiaparelli exhibition (Spring 2026).

Exact Editions says its platform offers a high-quality reading experience, facilitating smooth navigation through decades of content, advanced search options, accessibility features, and IP-authenticated and remote access for institutional subscribers.

Coralie Adams, head of membership at the V&A, commented: “We strive to provide our members with inspiring content and experiences, giving them exciting stories and showcasing the breadth of the Museum's work as part of our mission to champion design and creativity in all forms. We are delighted to have worked with Exact Editions to make the complete V&A Magazine archive digitally available to our members, opening up more than two decades of stories, research and insight from across the V&A."

Daryl Rayner, managing director of Exact Editions, commented: “Exact Editions are delighted to have launched this new digital archive for the V&A, drawing on our archival knowledge to open an online window into decades of informative and impactful insights into art, history, and culture.”
