Bloomsbury Education has announced it is to launch a publishing collaboration with The Week Junior, a weekly magazine for children. Bringing together true stories, information and the world’s most astonishing facts; the publisher says the first book in the ongoing collaboration, The Week Junior Big Book of Knowledge, will feature everything readers love about The Week Junior, in a large-format book, complete with photos, explanations and colourful design throughout.

Editorial Director Hannah Rolls acquired World, All Language rights from magazine publisher Future for The Week Junior Big Book of Knowledge which will publish in September 2024.

Hannah said: “The Week Junior is a brilliant way of helping children to understand the world. They do an amazing job of explaining complicated and difficult topics in a non-patronising and easy-to-understand way and I’m delighted to be working with their expert team to bring their content to the book market. The Week Junior Big Book of Knowledge and the other titles we are planning are going to be must-haves as engaging and balanced sources of reliable information for children as they get to grips with the challenges of the modem world.”

The Week Junior is a current affairs magazine for children aged 8 and up, and one of the most popular children's magazines in the UK, added the publisher. It reaches over 80,000 subscribers every week, including families and schools, and covers a range of topics including news, science, nature and sport. The magazine is known for explaining difficult concepts to children in a balanced, accurate and positive way, while providing them with an opportunity to explore ideas, and form and voice their opinions. This year, the publisher says the magazine further strengthened its commitment to supporting children's reading with the launch of The Week Junior Book Awards, Summer of Reading challenge and The Week Junior Book Festival, which will take place on 24th October in London.

Anna Bassi, editorial director of The Week Junior, said: “I can’t think of a more perfect partner to publish The Week Junior's very first book. Curious young readers will undoubtedly devour it, and I know they'll thoroughly enjoy fuelling family conversations and class discussions - as well as impressing their pals in the playground - with their new-found knowledge. I'm thrilled to be working with Hannah and her team at Bloomsbury Education to bring The Big Book of Knowledge to life, and I'm confident our award-winning brand is in the safest of hand.”

Bloomsbury Education will be publishing The Week Junior Big Book of Knowledge in September 2024, with more publishing to follow in 2025.
