New editor for Gloucestershire Echo

Kevan Blackadder, Editor of the Gloucestershire Echo is leaving his role with Gloucestershire Media.

Kevan, who has edited the Echo since 2008, has decided to stand down. He was previously assistant editor of the Bristol Post, where he also had roles including news editor and chief reporter. He began his career with his home-town newspaper The Whitehaven News and also worked for the Sunday Independent in Plymouth.

Kevan said: “I have been proud to edit the Echo for the last six years, during which time I worked with some incredibly talented and committed staff across all departments. The current team of journalists on the Echo are typical of the excellence that continues to exist in most regional newsrooms, producing fine newspapers and great online content.”

Matt Holmes, Deputy Editor, The Citizen has been appointed Editor of the Echo following Kevan’s departure.
