The Beano samples with The Daily Mirror

The Beano has created a bespoke 32-page collector’s edition for The Daily Mirror.

The special issue is exclusive to The Daily Mirror and Trinity Mirror’s regional titles and will be free with the newspapers on Saturday 1st November 2014.

As part of the pre-promotion for the sampler, on Fridat 31st October, a bespoke strip created by The Beano for The Daily Mirror and Trinity Mirror regional titles will appear in paper. A number of marketing initiatives will also support the partnership including in-title and online advertising and subscription offers exclusive to Trinity Mirror readers.

DC Thomson Group Marketing Manager (Newspapers & Magazines) Kirsty Matthews said, “We are delighted to be sampling The Beano with Trinity Mirror. The special edition comic will reach around 3.6 million readers, so it’s an exciting project for our brand allowing us to reach families up and down the country on both regional and national platforms.

“The Editorial team has done a great job in putting together a completely original sampler that features The Beano’s brand of mischievous entertainment.”

The Beano Editor-in-Chief Mike Stirling explains, “I’m really excited about this free edition demonstrating what a fun and creative experience enjoying The Beano every week is. It’s a great chance to encourage new readers to join Dennis, Gnasher and the rest of The Menace Squad as they try to save Beanotown – and it’s amazing new Vomit Comet rollercoaster – from Walter and his sneaky Softies. Plus there are 15 Menace Missions to complete inside this special issue. The coolest aspect is that Dennis has actually sneaked copies of this special issue into grown-ups’ newspapers! By the time anyone realises we’ll have recruited millions of new menaces. Result!”

Trinity Mirror Head of Marketing Shane Davison said, "This iconic and much-loved comic has been entertaining British children for many generations and all of us at the Mirror are thrilled to be working with Dennis, Gnasher and all the other characters from The Beano for the first time this weekend."

The special edition of The Beano will be available free to readers of The Daily Mirror and Trinity Mirror regional titles on Saturday 1st November 2014.
