Newsquest to launch Sales Academy

Newsquest Media Group announced last week its plan to launch a new Sales Academy and the appointment of Steve Tinniswood to the new role of Head of Sales Development.

The new Sales Academy will be based in Southampton and will be a centre of excellence for the training and development of Newsquest’s 1,200 sales staff, says Newsquest.

Steve Tinniswood will be responsible for the set up and running of the Newsquest Sales Academy and the running of an industry leading sales training programme. He was previously Director of Careers & Development at Trinity Mirror, with a specific responsibility for sales training and the enhancement of the company’s sales skills.

Henry Faure Walker, Chief Executive of Newsquest, commented: “I am delighted that Steve, with his strong track record, is joining us to lead the development of our sales capabilities. We have 1,200 sales staff across the company, and we are committed to supporting them and their careers as they strive to be the best in the business.

“Our objective is for Newsquest to be the clear leader in local media sales in the UK, be that in print, online or on mobile, and the appointment of Steve and our investment in a new Sales Academy is a fundamental step towards achieving this.”

Steve Tinniswood said: “I am delighted with this opportunity to work at Newsquest at a time when it is committed to creating the best local media sales force in the UK. It is an exciting company with a strong future, and one where I know I can make a significant contribution in defining, developing and running an industry leading training programme for all of Newsquest’s sales staff.”

Steve starts in his new role on November 17th and will report to Amanda Davison-Young, Managing Director of Newsquest Hampshire, who is based in Southampton.
